Sew Caroline Chalk + Paint Fabrics Tour

Sew Caroline Chalk + Paint Fabrics Tour

As I write this, I am sitting in a coffee shop in Boston surrounded by med students studying for mid-terms, feeling annoyed each time someone opens the door and the wind finds its way in. It’s an overcast day with very Kinfolk-y lighting, and from what I can tell, there are very few people strolling through the Boston Common. Basically, despite what the groundhog said, we’re still a far cry from spring.

2016-03-02_0005Back home in Virginia yesterday, it seemed like spring was on its way: the crocuses had popped, the skies were clear, and the temperature was in the 60s. Perfect day for a stroll with my newly-made Cooper Bag using Sew Caroline‘s new fabric line, Chalk & Paint. The patterns and colors are so perfectly springy, it pains me to to be bundled up in dark, winter colors today.

When I applied to be a part of the Chalk & Paint Blog Tour, I decided that I would love to use her canvas from the new line to create the Cooper Bag from Colette Patterns‘ Walden line. I made the Cooper once before (v.1/messenger bag) as a Christmas gift for my professor brother-in-law. I used brown waxed canvas which crinkles so perfectly, giving off the look of leather. This bag is quite different, using a patterned-print canvas and following the sewing pattern for v.2, the backpack.

I’m a photographer, not a model. 😉
